I, Sean Parnell, Governor of the State of Alaska, under the authority of Article III, Sections 1 and 24 of the Alaska Constitution, and in accordance with AS 44.19.145(c), supplement Administrative Order No. 129 on the State’s compliance program with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Purpose
The purpose of this Order is to supplement Administrative Order No. 129, dated April 22, 1992, regarding roles and responsibilities of the Department of Administration on the implementation of this Order, and assignment and placement of the State ADA Coordinator.
Roles and Responsibilities
Paragraph IV.A. of Administrative Order No. 129 is repealed and readopted to change the roles and responsibilities of the Department of Administration to implement Administrative Order No. 129 and to assign and place the State ADA Coordinator in the Department of Administration. Paragraph IV.A. shall read as follows:
- Under the authority and direction of the Office of the Governor, the Department of Administration is assigned the responsibility for the coordination of the State’s efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under this Order, State law, and the ADA, as amended. The State ADA Coordinator position is assigned to the Department of Administration to facilitate a statewide, coordinated approach to ADA compliance under the direction of the Department of Administration management.
This Order takes effect immediately.
