This order follows a directive from the White House lowering all U.S. flags to half-staff. President George H.W. Bush was a dedicated public servant who served as a decorated Navy pilot during World War II, a two-term congressman from Texas, an ambassador to the United Nations, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and Vice President under Ronald Reagan. Mr. Bush served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989-1993. He has the distinction of being the last of the World War II generation to occupy the Oval Office. His son, George W. Bush served as the 43rd President of the United States.
