I, Sean Parnell, Governor of the State of Alaska, under the authority of Art. III, Secs. 1 and 24, of the Alaska Constitution, hereby amend Administrative Order No. 247, which established the Alaska Rural Action Subcabinet, to designate a new chair of the subcabinet.
Background
On December 18, 2008, Administrative Order No. 247 was signed, which established the Alaska Rural Action Subcabinet (subcabinet) to advise the Office of the Governor on challenges faced by rural Alaskans. Many of these challenges center on economic issues, including the cost of energy in rural Alaska. Because the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development has expertise in these challenges, the purpose of this Order is to amend Administrative Order No. 247 to assign the chair of the subcabinet to the Commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development and to affirm as a member on the subcabinet the Attorney General of the Department of Law.
Chair and Composition of Subcabinet
The subcabinet shall be chaired by the Commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development and shall include in its membership the Attorney General and the Commissioners from the following additional departments: Labor and Workforce Development; Military and Veterans’ Affairs; Environmental Conservation; Health and Social Services; Education and Early Development; and Public Safety. The Director of the Office of the Governor, Washington, DC, and Rural Affairs Advisor shall also serve on the subcabinet.
Effective Date
This Order takes effect immediately.
DATED at Juneau, this 26th day of July, 2010.
/s/Sean Parnell
