Administrative Order No. 244

I, Sarah Palin, Governor of the State of Alaska, under the authority of art. III, secs. 1 and 24, of the Alaska Constitution rescind Administrative Order No. 240 and dissolve the interim Alaska Marine Transportation Advisory Board (Interim Board) established by that Order.

Background

On April 9, 2008, I signed Administrative Order No. 240, which established the Interim Board. The purpose of this interim advisory body was to provide recommendations to the governor and to the commissioner of the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities regarding the department’s exercise of its marine transportation functions assigned by law. Subsequently, I appointed members to the Interim Board.

On June 5, 2008, ch. 62, SLA 2008 became law establishing the Alaska Marine Transportation Advisory Board (Statutory Board) as a permanent statutory advisory body. The Statutory Board serves much the same function as the Interim Board.

In September of 2008, I appointed a full complement of members to the Statutory Board, who subsequently met and elected officers. Accordingly, the Statutory Board is now equipped to fulfill its advisory role, and the Interim Board is no longer necessary. Accordingly, I rescind Administrative Order No. 240 and dissolve the interim Alaska Marine Transportation Advisory Board.

This Order takes effect immediately.

DATED at Anchorage, Alaska this 17th day of November, 2008.
