Description: The board consists of 7 members appointed by Governor with consideration of nominees by persons engaged in fish processing and commercial fishing. The board must consist of 5 seafood processors, 4 with annual payroll in Alaska of $2,500,000 or more and 1 with annual payroll in Alaska of $50,000 – 2,500,000, and 2 engaged in commercial fishing. Board elects chair.
Function: The board promotes seafood and by-products harvested in Alaska for sale, and develops market-oriented quality specifications.
Special facts: Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor. The institute is a public corporation of the state with separate legal existence. A quorum consists 4 members.
Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem
Meetings: At least annually; approximately 3 times per year; 1-2 days. Meetings are usually fall, winter, and spring.
