Description: The board consists of 11 members appointed by Governor: 1 must be full time University of Alaska student selected from nominees by election (refer to statute) for 2-year term beginning June 1; all other terms begin the first Monday in February; names submitted to Legislature within 5 days after opening of session.
Function: Governs the University of Alaska; formulates policy and appoints the President of the University.
Special facts: A quorum consists of 6 members. The board regularly reports to the Legislature. The University President serves as the Executive Officer. The Regents elect a chair every year, who is referred to as the Board Chair.””
Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem
Meetings: 6 times per year, 12 days total. Generally not during the summer.
