President Donald J. Trump has approved a federal disaster declaration for the State of Alaska due to the 2025 West Coast Storm. Governor Mike Dunleavy requested the declaration following discussions between he and President Trump immediately following the storm. The declaration means federal assistance is now on the way for a multitude of recovery programs from reconstruction to unemployment assistance to disaster loans for small businesses.
“President Trump was deeply concerned with the wellbeing of Alaskans who lost their homes and livelihoods to this historic storm,” said Governor Dunleavy. “I want to thank him and his administration for approving the disaster declaration because now Alaskan families have local, state and federal support for rebuilding their lives in the months ahead.”
The federal disaster declaration authorizes a 100 percent federal cost share for all categories of relief assistance for the next 90 days. The Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will coordinate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on all recovery operations and programs.
