WHEREAS, America’s success has been driven by pioneers who think big, take risks, and work hard, and in Alaska, we recognize that our small business sector is one of the greatest strengths of our prosperous state; and
WHEREAS, from the storefront shops that anchor Main Street to high-tech startups, small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the cornerstone of our state’s expansion effort; and
WHEREAS, when we support small business, jobs are created and local communities are permitted to preserve their unique culture; and
WHEREAS, Alaska’s small business owners bring knowledge and excitement to what they do, and they contribute to the vitality of our economy and inspire others to realize the full promise of our state; and
WHEREAS, small businesses embody the spirit of our Alaska’s identity and goal of prosperity, and this week, we honor and recognize the patriotic pioneers who have contributed to our great state’s economy and culture.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim April 30 – May 6, 2023 as:
Small Business Week
in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to support small businesses and recognize the impact they make in our communities.
