Prohibitions: At least one licensed member must not be an employee of a federal, state, or local government or of a private nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax. A member who has served all or part of two successive terms may not be reappointed unless four years have elapsed since the person last served. Public members cannot be engaged in, have a legal contract with a member of, or have a direct financial interest in the occupation that the board regulates.
Term: 4 years
Chair: Governor may select.
Description: The board consists of 5 members appointed by the Governor: 1 licensed baccalaureate social worker, 1 licensed master social worker, 2 licensed clinical social workers, and 1 public member who has never been licensed by this board.
Function: To set standards for the education, training, and experience for persons practicing social work; to promote high standards of professional performance by those persons licensed to practice social work; and to issue licenses to qualified applicants.
Special facts: The chair serves for a term of 1 year. Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem No additional compensation.
Meetings: 3 times per year (spring/summer/fall) for 1 or 2 days each; emailed ballot votes after some meetings
