Governor Michael J. Dunleavy signed three pieces of legislation, all sponsored by Senator Cathy Giessel, into law on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in Anchorage. Senate Bill 36 extends the Board of Nursing’s termination date to June 30, 2025. Senate Bill 37 reauthorizes the statewide immunization program in the Department of Health and Social Services; the program monitors, purchases and distributes all childhood vaccines and select adult vaccines to providers, making access to vaccines universal for all Alaskans. Senate bill 44 clarifies that physician assistants can provide telemedicine in the same manner as physicians.
