WHEREAS, quality forensic science plays an essential role in investigating crimes, from exonerating the innocent to identifying the guilty; and
WHEREAS, forensic science plays a critical role in public outreach and crime prevention, and is evolving in its role as a key component of the criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, crime scene investigators, forensic examiners, and forensic scientists provide unbiased, accurate, and reliable analyses of evidence recovered from across the Nation; and
WHEREAS, across the Country, numerous professional organizations and individuals will be recognizing and celebrating September 15 – 21, 2024, as Forensic Science Week; and
WHEREAS, the hard-working individuals that make up our forensic science organizations deserve universal regard and appreciation for their commitment to proper scientific investigations for the cause of justice.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim September 15 – 21, 2024, as:
Forensic Science Week
in Alaska and encourage all Alaskans to express their gratitude and respect for the people, facilities, and technologies that make reliable forensic science possible in our community.
