WHEREAS, it is our responsibility to guide, inspire, and encourage our youth to go forth and serve America by becoming productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, to achieve this worthy objective, we should demonstrate our understanding of the hopes and aspirations of our young people, and we should show a sincere willingness to help prepare them in every way for the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship; and
WHEREAS, our nation’s youths are deserving of our support because the young generation of today will assume the responsibility of advancing our society tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, the Elks Lodges of the State of Alaska will observe May 1 – 7, 2023, as Elks National Youth Week as a tribute to our Junior Citizens to honor them for their achievements and contributions to the betterment of our communities, state, and nation; and
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim May 1 – 7, 2023 as:
Elks National Youth Week
in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to continue to support the development of our young people in their journey to adulthood.
