Centenarian’s Day

WHEREAS, Centenarian’s Day is a day to celebrate and honor those who have reached the age of 100 or more; and

WHEREAS, this is a day to celebrate those among us who have lived an entire century and to share in their wisdom, work experience, community contributions and life as a whole; and

WHEREAS, Alaska’s Centenarians are esteemed members of our society, and their wealth of knowledge, practical wisdom, and vast experiences can be effectively shared through interactions with family, friends, neighbors across generations which enrich the lives of everyone involved; and

WHEREAS, these Centenarians have witnessed the tragedies of the Great Depression and World Wars, experienced the golden age of the radio, witnessed the invention of television, innovation of air travel, observed the exploration of space, and adapted to the digital revolution – all in one lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Centenarian’s will always be with us at each point in history, and all the memories of the lives they have lived will continue to live on when passed down; and

WHEREAS, The State of Alaska is committed to maintaining the safe, and healthy environments, providing access to important services, and ensuring individual choices for Alaska’s Centenarians.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim September 22, 2025, as:

Centenarian’s Day

in Alaska and encourage all Alaskans to recognize and honor their invaluable contributions to our families, our communities and to Alaska.
