Careers in Construction Month

WHEREAS, the construction industry is one of the Nation’s largest sectors, employing eight million individuals in the United States, with construction professionals playing a pivotal role in Alaska’s economic growth and development; and

WHEREAS, Alaska’s world-class network of Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, coupled with industry training organizations, ensures a continuing influx of skilled workers to meet the State’s evolving construction needs; and

WHEREAS, employers, trade associations, schools, and career and technical education programs are encouraged to host job fairs, panel discussions, and community events to inform Alaskans about the diverse employment opportunities within the construction industry; and

WHEREAS, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Build Your Future initiative promotes a positive perception of the construction industry and provides a path for individuals to become craft professionals; and

WHEREAS, the Build Your Future campaign’s mission is to narrow the skills gap by guiding America’s youth and displaced workers toward opportunities that lead to lifelong and rewarding careers in construction; and

WHEREAS, the State of Alaska’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development offers training opportunities to all Alaskans interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry, thereby strengthening our workforce and contributing to Alaska’s future development and economy.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim October 2025 as:

Careers in Construction Month

in Alaska and encourage all Alaskans to explore the many benefits of a career in construction, to consider entering the field through Registered Apprenticeships, and to celebrate the positive impact construction professionals have on our infrastructure and economy.
