WHEREAS, quality forensic science plays an essential role in the criminal justice system by providing impartial, scientific information that helps to solve crimes, from exonerating the innocent to identifying the guilty; and
WHEREAS, forensic science plays a critical role in public outreach and crime prevention, while continuing to evolve as a key pillar of the criminal justice system through advances in technology and science; and
WHEREAS, crime scene investigators, forensic examiners, and forensic scientists, in collaboration with national partners, uphold the highest ethical standards as they provide objective, precise, and reliable analysis of evidence, recovered from across the Nation; and
WHEREAS, numerous professional organizations and individuals across the country will be recognizing and celebrating September 14 – 20, 2025, as Forensic Science Week; and
WHEREAS, the hard-working individuals that make up our forensic science organizations merit recognition and appreciation for their commitment to proper scientific investigations for the cause of justice.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim September 14 – 20, 2025, as:
Forensic Science Week
in Alaska and encourage all Alaskans to express their gratitude and respect for the people, facilities, and technologies that make reliable forensic science possible in our community.
