State Employee Appreciation Day

WHEREAS, a career in public service is an investment in the wellbeing of Alaska’s communities, families, and people; and

WHEREAS, public service employees build and maintain the framework and infrastructure on which Alaska’s schools, businesses, and communities can thrive; and

WHEREAS, Alaska is home to thousands of federal, state, and local public service employees whose collective mission is to serve others well today while working to build a bright future for all Alaskans ; and

WHEREAS, the call to public service is a call to uphold the safety, health, and wellbeing of Alaska’s communities and to seek to improve outcomes for all Alaskans; and

WHEREAS, public service in Alaska requires creativity, innovation, and the ability to solve unique problems and challenges not present elsewhere, as well as the innate and intrinsic motivation to serve Alaskans well; and

WHEREAS, we appreciate the dedication of Alaska’s hard working public service employees who place the needs of others first and seek to uphold the wellbeing of all Alaskans.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim May 5 – 11, 2024 as:

Public Service Recognition Week

and May 8, 2024 as:

State Employee Appreciation Day

in Alaska and encourage all Alaskans to recognize the role public service employees play in maintaining the health, safety, and wellbeing of Alaskans.
