Today, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy delivered remarks alongside President Trump and Vice President Pence in support of the federal government’s rollback of job-killing regulations. The White House press conference coincided with the Trump administration’s recently announced modernization of the infrastructure project review process.
“Over the past 40 years, these regulations have strangled the American dream for so many Alaskans,” said Governor Mike Dunleavy. “These long-awaited reforms are a ray of hope for those who have suffered the impacts of federal overreach in my home state. Lifting the regulatory burden will spur responsible natural resource development in Alaska, creating jobs and economic opportunity while still protecting the environment.”
The final rule issued by the Trump administration reforms the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) by expanding public involvement and setting reasonable time limits on environmental reviews. The president also highlighted his collaboration with our nation’s governors to cut regulatory costs, eliminate outdated rules, and better align federal and state policies.
