May 13, 2021 (Anchorage, AK) – Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy and First Lady Rose Dunleavy issued the following statement on the passing of former Alaska State Senator Paul Fischer, who served from 1983-1992:
“Paul Fischer served his country, state, and community with dedication, serving in the US Air Force Reserve, representing his district on the Kenai Peninsula for a decade in the Alaska State Legislature, and further serving his community on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly. One of his shining traits in a political world was the way he befriended and showed respect for people regardless of their political affiliation. There is no question that Paul lived a full life and left a lasting impact on all who knew him,” said Governor Dunleavy. “Rose and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Fischer family for their loss.”
Governor Mike Dunleavy has ordered that all U.S. flags and Alaska state flags fly at half-staff on Friday, May 21, 2021 in honor of Senator Fischer.
