Thursday, December 20, 2018 (Anchorage) – Gov. Michael J. Dunleavy and First Lady Rose Dunleavy wish to express their sincerest condolences to the family of Skagway Mayor Monica Carlson, her mother Cora Adams and, the residents of Skagway.
“Rose and I join the community of Skagway in mourning the tragic and unexpected deaths of Mayor Carlson and her mother Cora,” said Governor Dunleavy. “Mayor Carlson was by all accounts a devoted public servant and proud of her community. Skagway’s loss is Alaska’s loss.”
Mayor Carlson and her mother died of their injuries following an accident last night in Washington D.C.
Governor Dunleavy has directed state flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Mayor Carlson on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
