WHEREAS, for over fifty years, Community Health Centers have provided accessible and affordable healthcare to underserved and uninsured members of communities across the Nation; and
WHEREAS, each Community Health Center’s Board is comprised of patients to ensure that the healthcare needs of each individual community are met; and
WHEREAS, in Alaska, over two hundred clinics serve nearly one out of every six Alaskans and employ over 2,400 Alaskans; and
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers work to resolve healthcare disparities and ensure accessible health care by resolving barriers to care in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers reduce the fiscal strain on the national healthcare system by over $500 million annually; and
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers continue to support Alaska’s healthcare system as Alaska transitions to living with COVID.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim August 7-13, 2022 as:
Community Health Center Week
in Alaska, and encourage all residents to learn more about the important role that community health centers play in maintaining the wellness and wellbeing of all Alaskans.
