Wednesday, November 13, 2019 (Anchorage) – Governor Michael J. Dunleavy today released the following statement regarding the announcement from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development that wages were up four percent in the first half of 2019 compared to the first half of 2018. The increase means that Alaska employers paid out about $355 million more in wages from January to June in 2019 than over the same period in 2018.
“Today’s announcement that Alaska wages increased in the first half of the year is another solid data point that Alaska’s economy continues to improve,” said Governor Michael J. Dunleavy. “I have made opening Alaska for business one of my top priorities since taking office and this new report along with private investment reports, record low unemployment, increased GDP, and personal income are clear indicators that things are moving in the right direction.”
