Alaska Lemonade Day

Jun 27, 2020

WHEREAS, Alaska’s youth are the future of our Great State, and it is vital for us to provide them with the educational opportunities necessary to achieve their full potential; and

WHEREAS, one such opportunity is Lemonade Day, a national program that offers our children the chance to learn and apply entrepreneurial thinking through the act of building and running a lemonade stand; and

WHEREAS, by inspiring our youth with the spirit of enterprise and teaching them basic business and entrepreneurial skills, we can help them to become successful, contributing members of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Lemonade Day began in 2007 and has grown into a national entrepreneurial program to teach our youth how to start, own, and operate their own businesses through the act of building and running a lemonade stand. By following the “Spend, Save, and Share” philosophy, youth learn to set goals, develop a business plan, establish the budget, seek investors, provide customer service, and give back to their community; and

WHEREAS, participation in Lemonade Day demonstrates to young people in Alaska that they are important, they can meaningfully contribute to a prosperous future for themselves and their families, and they can achieve things if they simply set their mind and energy toward their accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, the State of Alaska commends organizers, volunteers, and participants of Lemonade Day, and extends best wishes to all for a successful and rewarding experience.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim June 27, 2020 as:

Alaska Lemonade Day

in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to join our youth and participate in Lemonade Day to support Alaska’s next generation of business owners by helping them to sell or by purchasing their lemonade.
