Description: The board consists of 3 members appointed by Governor: 1 administrative officer of the Dept. of Fish and Game (marine fisheries), 1 member of Legislature (Resources Committee), plus 1 member with wide knowledge of and interest in marine fisheries problems; advisory committee is appointed by the commissioners. Function: The board promotes better use of marine resources, shellfish, and finfish and develops program for protection and prevention of waste of fisheries. Special facts: Members may be removed for cause. Legislative confirmation for members is required by statute, but not permissible under the Constitution. No action may be taken by the Commission except by a majority vote of members present. No recommendation may be made by the commission in regard to a species of fish except by the vote of a majority of the compacting states which have an interest in the species. An advisory committee to be representative of the commercial fishermen, commercial fishing industry and other interested of each stat which the deems advisable is established. Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem Meetings: 1 meeting per year; 6 days maximum.
