Description: The board consists of 2 members appointed by Governor with a broad range of professional experience, none of whom has a vested economic interest in an interim-use permit, entry permit, commercial fishing vessel or gear, or in any fishery resource processing or marketing business (AS 16.43.050). Function: The board promotes conservation and sustained yield management of fishery resource and regulates/controls entry into commercial fisheries. Special facts: A quorum consists of 2 members unless there is a vacancy, which does not impair the authority of a single commissioner who may exercise all the powers and perform al the duties of the commission. The commission is a regulatory and quasi-judicial agency. Members may be removed for cause. The Governor designates chair for two years (may be designated for successive two-year terms).
