Governor Walker lowers flags to half-staff in honor of the victims of Parkland, Florida Tragedy February 15, 2018 February 15, 2018 JUNEAU – Governor Bill Walker today ordered Alaska and U.S. Flags be immediately lowered to half-staff in remembrance of the victims of yesterday’s tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida. The Governor’s order follows a directive from the White House lowering all U.S. Flags to half-staff. “Donna, Byron, Toni, and I are heartbroken, and share our prayers with the children, parents, educators and community members of Parkland, Florida,” Governor Walker said. “Yesterday’s tragedy is a reminder of the fragility of life, and we join the nation in grieving with those who have lost their loved ones.” Per Governor Walker’s order and the proclamation from the White House, all U.S. and Alaska flags should be lowered to half-staff immediately. All flags should return to full staff at sunset on Monday, February 19.
