Shirley Demientieff Award Recipient Announced October 15, 2015 Governor Bill Walker and Lieutenant Governor Byron Mallott presented the 2015 Shirley Demientieff Award to Poldine Carlo of Fairbanks today. They made the announcement at the annual Alaska Federation of Natives Convention in Anchorage. Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Walker Applauds Effort to Bring Budget Challenge to the Classroom October 15, 2015 Gov. Governor Walker Declares August North Slope Borough Storm a Disaster October 14, 2015 Governor Bill Walker issued a Disaster Declaration on October 14 for the August North Slope Borough storm that damaged roads and necessitated substantial emergency protective measures. The Disaster Declaration activates the State of Alaska Public Assistance program which is designed to help communities make repairs to utilities, public buildings, roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure damaged by the declared event.
