Prohibitions: A member who has served all or part of 2 successive terms may not be reappointed unless 4 years have elapsed since the person last served.

Term: 4 years

Description: 5 members appointed by the Governor: 4 licensed professional counselors, of which at least one shall be employed in the private sector and at least one should be employed in the public sector; and 1 public member who has never been a licensed professional counselor or employed in a commercial or professional field related to counseling; or lives in a household with a person who is or has been a licensed professional counselor or employed in a commercial or professional field related to professional counseling.

Function: Regulates licensing standards, examination of applicants and disciplinary sanction of professional counselors.

Chair: Governor may select.

Special facts: Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor (AS 08.01.020) for a maximum of 2 consecutive terms.

Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem. No additional compensation.

Meetings: Meets 3 times per year (spring/summer/fall) 2 days each; bi-weekly ballots emailed for board votes.
