Description: The board consists of seven members: four public members appointed by the Governor giving a preference to persons who have experience and expertise in children's or prevention programs or private sector finance, the Governor or a designee of the Governor, and the Commissioners of the Dept. of Health and Social Services and the Dept. of Education or their designees.
Function: The board awards grants from the net income of the trust to community-based programs and projects that the board find will aid in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Chair: Elected by board.
Special facts: The board submits an annual report to the Governor and Legislature by February 1 of each year describing the child abuse and neglect prevention services that were provided by the programs and projects to which the board awarded grants; and the annual level of contributions, income, and expenses of the trust. Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem. No additional compensation.
Meetings: Quarterly; in Anchorage, Fairbanks, & Juneau. Teleconference or Videoconference available.
