Description: The board consists of 8 total members, 5 of which are appointed by the Governor from among citizens of the state. Plus the chair of the Alaska Commission on Aging, Chair of the Alaska Veterans Advisory Council, One member who is a Veteran of active service in the armed forces of the US, including the Alaska National Guard or the Alaska Territorial Guard. Serve at pleasure of the Governor.

Function: The board conducts annual inspections of property and procedures of the Alaska Pioneers' Homes and recommends changes and improvements to Governor.

Chair: Elected by board.

Special facts: Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor. The chair serves as a member of the Alaska Commission on Aging.

Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem.

Meetings: Meets on an annual basis, with special meetings as necessary. Typically meet in the fall and spring.
