Description: The council consists of 12 members: 6 members appointed by Governor and 5 members nominated by the Alaska Library Association, including the immediate past-president. Members shall be broadly representative of the library profession, library users, and the economically and culturally disadvantaged. At least 1/3 shall represent users. The State Librarian serves as an ex officio, nonvoting member.

Function: The council advises the Alaska State Library on the federal Library Services and Technology Act and develops and evaluates library services in Alaska.

Chair: Council selects.

Special facts:

Compensation: Standard Travel and Per Diem. No additional compensation.

Meetings: 1 official meeting (generally in the spring at the same same time as the Ak Library Assoc. Annual Conference) and generally 2-3 teleconferences per year; usually 4 days maximum annually.
