Tom Huffer Sr. Field Dedication
Governor Parnell spoke at the renaming of Chugiak High School’s football field to Tom Huffer Sr. Football Stadium. Coach Huffer inspired 19 years of football players to give their best for the team. He was also instrumental in starting flag football in the Anchorage School District.

HB 20 & HB 210 Bill Signing
Governor Sean Parnell signed House Bill 210 and House Bill 20. HB 210 authorizes a land exchange with the federal government providing road access between King Cove and Cold Bay. HB 20 allows fishermen to obtain loans through the Commercial Fishing Revolving Loan Fund to upgrade their vessels for fuel efficiency.

Chena Renewable Energy Fair
Governor Sean Parnell and First Lady Sandy Parnell attended the 2010 Chena Renewable Energy Fair. Held every year, the fair showcases creative sustainability concepts and alternative energy solutions that address Alaska’s environmental challenges. Sunday, August 15, 2010.

Army National Guard Deployment Ceremony
Governor Parnell attends the Alaska Army National Guard deployment ceremony for B Company, 1-207 Aviation Battalion, also known as the “Arctic Cowboys”. More than 70 Guardsmen will be deployed to Iraq for a year-long tour of duty. The Arctic Cowboys fly UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to transport soldiers and equipment. Sunday, August 8, 2010.

Palmer Senior Citizens Center
Governor Sean Parnell attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Palmer Senior Center. After 17 years of planning, the new $11.8 million facility is scheduled for completion next summer. Representatives Bill Stoltze and Carl Gatto and Senators Charlie Huggins and Linda Menard also attended the event. Wednesday, August 4, 2010.

Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp
Governor Parnell talks about the importance of team work with children attending the Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp in Juneau. The camp, now in its second year, gives young people a chance to learn the sport of basketball from one of the NBA's best. Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
Visit to Hoonah
Governor Parnell traveled to Hoonah to meet with members of the community and the owners of Hoonah's Icy Straits Lumber & Milling Company. An explosion and subsequent fire recently destroyed the main building of the mill. While in Hoonah, the governor visited the Hoonah Senior Center, met with Mayor Windy Skaflestad and toured Icy Strait Point with officials from the Huna Totem Corporation. Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
